Nylon PA12 Glass-Filled (PA12 GF)

PA12 reinforced with 30–40% glass beads for increased stiffness, dimensional stability, and thermal resistance. The go-to material for parts requiring tight tolerances under load or elevated temperatures.

About Nylon PA12 Glass-Filled (PA12 GF)

Glass-filled PA12 (PA 12 GF or PA 3200 GF) combines the chemical resistance and processability of PA12 with the stiffness and thermal performance of glass microspheres. The glass content (typically 30–40% by weight) increases the elastic modulus to 3,000–4,500 MPa — approximately 2× that of unfilled PA12.

The material excels in applications where dimensional stability under load is critical: housings, covers, brackets, and structural fixtures that must maintain their shape over time and temperature.

Typical Applications

  • Structural housings and covers
  • Under-bonnet automotive components
  • Industrial fixtures and tooling
  • Brackets and mounts requiring dimensional stability

Engineering Considerations

  • Significantly more brittle than unfilled PA12 — not for impact or flex applications
  • Glass beads increase abrasion on sintering equipment — affects maintenance costs
  • Surface finish is rougher than unfilled PA12
